The setting sun over the beach, beyond an infinity pool and palm trees, at the Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout

Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout, a stay worth having at least once

In Taghazout Bay, north of Agadir, the Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout is a big 5-star all-inclusive hotel facing the Atlantic. We first came as a couple; it was so breathtaking that we wanted the children to discover it too: in May 2026, we stayed there for four days as a family. It's not a cheap stay, but for us it's something to experience at least once in your life, especially for a big occasion.

The Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout opened in October 2019, right by the beach in Taghazout Bay. It's a 5-star hotel of the Spanish chain RIU, in partnership with the Moroccan group Tikida, with a 24-hour all-inclusive formula. It has 504 rooms.

On 15 May 2026, at around 12:50, we were in front of the entrance: a big orange jar standing in the middle of a pool of water, at the start of a path lined with palm trees.

Landing in the middle of the night: the first night elsewhere

Price
Airbnb: €30 a night

Our flight landed at 1:00 in the morning. We wouldn't have made the most of a first night at the hotel: it would have been a waste. So, to save money, we took an Airbnb for €30 that night. The downside: you have to move again the next day.

And even if you arrive before your room is ready, you can already enjoy the place.

“It's not a cheap stay, but you have to experience it at least once in your life, I think, especially for a big occasion. The trouble is, once you've had a taste of it, all you want is to live the experience again.”

A few minutes later, from a terrace, we could see the pools stepping down towards the ocean, between the palm trees and the sun loungers.

When it opened, the hotel announced five cascading pools, including two infinity pools facing the beach, an indoor pool and a children's pool. Its website also lists a heated pool, water slides for children and a kids' club, RIU Land.

All-inclusive, with several restaurants

It's all-inclusive, with three or four gourmet restaurants inside the hotel. Its website lists four, including a steakhouse and a Moroccan restaurant.

Sunset by the infinity pool

One evening in May 2024, at around 20:10, we were by an infinity pool facing the beach: the sun was going down over the ocean, and in the distance we could see the white houses of Taghazout village at the foot of the hill.

The gardens, late in the afternoon

In the early afternoon, at around 14:20, we were on the rocks at the edge of the big beach, less than a kilometre from the hotel as the crow flies, towards the village: waves, swimmers, and surfboards laid out on the rock.

Our verdict: not cheap, but worth experiencing at least once

It's not a cheap stay. But for us, you have to experience it at least once in your life, especially for a big occasion.

The trouble is, once you've had a taste of it, all you want is to live the experience again.

Four days at the Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout, between the cascading pools, the gardens and the beach: not a cheap stay, but one to experience at least once in your life, in our view, especially for a big occasion. And to get out of the hotel, Taghazout village is best explored at the end of the day.

Our tips before you go

  • 24-hour all-inclusive formula, with several restaurants in the hotel: check what it covers when you book.
  • With children: the hotel lists a children's pool with water slides and a kids' club, RIU Land.
  • To get out of the hotel: Taghazout village is just over a kilometre away as the crow flies; we recommend exploring it at the end of the day.
  • Budget: the stay isn't cheap; keep it for a big occasion, and compare prices across different dates.
  • Flight landing in the middle of the night: a first night somewhere cheap (€30 on Airbnb for us) saves paying for a hotel night you won't make the most of; you'll just have to move again the next day.
